Weekly Recap: Summer, Siblings & Screens Workshop THIS Friday
+ Dr. Emily on the Motherhood & Medicine Podcast + Bring me to your school!
Summer Parent Workshops…are OPEN for REGISTRATION!
If you’re feeling confused about whether or not your child needs to be evaluated for a developmental or learning difference and where to even begin, this workshop is for you!
Setting limits with a neurodivergent child can be tricky. What overwhelms them may be hard to predict, they may experience anxiety about daily tasks that you can’t just skip, or you may feel you are setting too many limits with your ADHD child who is often engaging in risk-taking behaviors.
Upcoming this week…
The JUNE PARENT WORKSHOP is THIS FRIDAY!
Summertime can bring too much downtime which can lead to conflict with siblings and stress over too much screen time. If these things are already on your mind, this workshop is for you!
What we will cover:
Ways to foster your child’s motivation and interests this summer away from the stress of school
When and how to schedule separate sibling activities and when to work on collaborative play and teamwork at home
Helping siblings understand each other’s differences, especially when there are different expectations for one sibling due to a skill weakness
Teaching siblings to repair conflict without the empty “I’m sorry”
Understanding all the different types of screen use, when screens can be used effectively for downtime, and strategies for setting up boundaries around screens
Upgrade to an all-access membership on Substack to receive instant access to all of my parent workshops recordings and replays ($275/year).
Want to just register for the June workshop for $37? No problem! Enroll in just this workshop (and you’ll get the replay) at the link below.
Dr. Emily on Motherhood & Medicine Podcast
Have you ever heard your child say something truly negative about themselves? Do they do it often?
We all have a mental talk track that plays in our head through which we process our lives and emotions. So do kids.
What do we do when our kids start to display signs of their talk track becoming negative?
Keep listening to my conversation with Lynzy of Motherhood Meets Medicine at the link below for more tips, tricks and advice on becoming an effective advocate for your child.
We discuss:
Negative self-talk and what it is.
How negative self-talk presents in children.
Ways to determine where negative self-talk is stemming from and how to respond.
Why it’s important to get curious rather than to simply react when your child says something negative.
Different ways to help your child find their “thing”.
