What is the Learn with Dr. Emily community?

Learn with Dr. Emily is a safe and nurturing online space for parents and educators who want to learn and grow together as we support neurodivergent kids and teens growing up in a world that wasn’t built for them.

Why do we need a community?

After working as a child psychologist for the last 20 years, I know that parents and educators are doing all they can with the resources they have.

I know that you’ve read books and taken classes, which has brought you some small wins, but you still feel like there is so much more to learn. That’s why we are here!

Here, we pair my knowledge of child development & school psychology with your experience raising and teaching neurodivergent children and share our ideas with each other along the way.

My Story

I’ve spent the last 20 years working with neurodivergent children and teens along with their families and teachers in public schools and private practice.

The children I have worked with over the years have taught me so much, but I have another teacher: my son. He has taught me everything I didn’t learn in graduate school.

I’ve sat on both sides of the IEP table first as a school psychologist and then as a parent. I know the feeling of thinking you are out of ideas to support your child. This feeling inspired my passion for helping parents and educators collaborate so that all students can experience success.

We have to keep sharing our ideas. What works for one child may or may not work for another. Our kids are complex. Our families are complex. Classrooms are complex. School systems are complex. There is so much information out there, but we are ultimately the decision-makers of the next best step in a child’s journey.
