[FREE REPLAY] How to Talk To Your Child About Their Neurodivergence

My Story
Iāve spent the last 20 years working with neurodivergent children and teens alongside their families and teachers. I first worked as a school psychologist in public schools in Houston, Texas, and then in private practice in Raleigh, North Carolina providing testing and therapy services to children diagnosed with autism, ADHD, and giftedness/twice-exceptionality.
The children I have worked with over the years have taught me so much, but I have a few other teachers: my sons. They have taught me everything I didnāt learn in graduate school and make my life exponentially better.
Iāve sat on both sides of the IEP table, first as a professional and then as a parent. I know the feeling of thinking you are out of ideas to support your child, but we can all learn so much from one another. This idea of collective wisdom inspired me to help parents and educators create better outcomes for neurodivergent kids and teens.
We just have to keep sharing our ideas. What works for one child may or may not work for another. Our kids are complex. Our families are complex. Classrooms are complex. School systems are complex.
There is so much information out there, but you are ultimately the decision-makers of the next best step in your childās journey. Iām here to share my knowledge of child development, mental health, and the neuroscience of learning to help you help your child find their own version of success.
I canāt wait to meet you!
Letās stay connected,
~Dr. Emily
