Watch Now | 46 minutes

In this workshop you will learn:

  • What are all the different types of psychological evaluations? What about speech/language and occupational therapy evaluations? What kind of information will I get?

  • Who is qualified to diagnose autism, ADHD, giftedness, and/or learning disabilities? What are the differences in training between a pediatrician, psychologist, or psychiatrist? How do office visits with each of these providers vary?

  • What is the difference between receiving a free evaluation by a school psychologist and having my child evaluated by a psychologist in private practice or a hospital clinic? How do I know if I need a specialist?

  • When is the best time to get my child evaluated and how early or late can these tests be done? Do we have to repeat these evaluations? Why and how often?

  • What do I do with the results? You’ll learn how to read a test report and translate that information into supporting your child and communicating their needs to teachers.

[WORKSHOP REPLAY] How ADHD Impacts Learning & Strategies to Help

Our kids are constantly learning. The limits we set teach them boundaries, the kindness we show teaches them compassion, and the routines we follow teach them self-care. And, all of that learning happens outside of the classroom!

[WORKSHOP REPLAY] How to Motivate Autistic Learners

If you’re parenting an autistic child or teaching an autistic student, you have likely felt unsure about what motivates them to learn. Autistic individuals tend to be more motivated by their interests than by pleasing those around them. Understanding this changes everything!

[WORKSHOP REPLAY] Executive Functioning Strategies for Neurodivergent Kids & Teens

[WORKSHOP REPLAY] Executive Functioning Strategies for Neurodivergent Kids & Teens

As parents raising neurodivergent kids and teens who often struggle to feel time, manage time, and transition between activities independently, supporting our kids’ executive functioning is paramount. Figuring out what systems work to support our kids’ attention and motivation will help them understand what works and how to advocate for themselves as they mature.

Meet Dr. Emily

As a child psychologist, former school psychologist, and parent, I’ve spent the last two decades working with neurodivergent children and teens alongside their families and teachers.

Our kids are complex. What works for one child may or may not work for another. Our families are complex. There is so much information out there, but you are ultimately the decision-makers of the next best step in your child’s journey. I want to help you to feel more capable and experience more joy on this parenting journey.

If you’re ready to learn how to reduce the stress in your home, help others understand your kid, and find more joy, you are in the right place.

Let’s do this together,

~Dr. Emily
